10YO: Canadian Pen Pals

Canadian Pen Pals

As part of the 10YO Literacy program, students have been busily writing to pen pals in Canada. Pen pals are friends from afar whom students can send letters to and receive replies in return. Students are already onto their third round of letters, the latest one a handwritten response with a little gift for the festive season.

Students have maintained high standards with their letter writing. Letters must be formatted corrected, structured with paragraphs, and be thoroughly edited for spelling, grammar and punctuation. Students engage with their pen pals by asking open ended questions and sharing news about what is happening at school and in their personal lives. 

It has been a delightful process, and the 10YO students are excited to receive many more letters all the way up until summer break in 2025.
