13YO: Investigating the Great Civilizations of the Americas

In Mr. Nellermoe's Cultural Studies 13 class, students are researching questions that they independently formulated about how "advanced" early American civilizations were. Based on their findings, students will create a claim that is supported by facts which they will present to their classmates through a product of learning such as an essay, a Canva presentation, or a podcast/video presentation. This project allows students to think critically about the Incan, Mayan, and Aztec cultures; formulate and communicate claims in diverse ways; and to deepen their understanding of early American civilizations.

The image shows a whiteboard with a list of compelling questions about how advanced early American civilizations were.
The image shows a person with curly hair sitting at a desk, using a laptop computer, while another person sits next to them also using a computer.
Two young students, one wearing a pink shirt and the other wearing a black sweater, are sitting at a table and using laptop computers in what appears to be a classroom or study area.
A young woman with reddish-brown hair sits at a desk, intently focused on the laptop in front of her, surrounded by various stickers and decorations on the desk and wall behind her.
