Drift On In and “Sea” What We’ve Been Learning 🚤

🌊⛵ The 2YO Lily class had a boat-load of fun this week exploring water transportation! Our little sailors climbed aboard the classroom boat, fished for sea creatures, and learned about many water vehicles including sailboats, submarines, ferries, cruise ships, and speedboats. 🚤

🔬 In science, the children hypothesized and tested which objects would sink or float before engineering a foil boat strong enough to hold teddy bear counters. Our impressive boat stayed afloat with 35 bears aboard! 🧸🚢

🎨 Creativity was in full sail as the class designed and decorated beautiful sailboats, then used straws to create “wind” and send them drifting across the water. The children also learned important boat and water safety skills, including the purpose of life jackets and life preservers. 🛟

🏴‍☠️ Pirate play added extra excitement to the week as students counted pirates in the book “Knock, Knock, Pirate” and enjoyed dressing up for dramatic play. Arrrrr! ☠️

✈️ Next week, our transportation adventures will really take off as we begin learning about planes and air transportation!
