6YO: YES Day!

6YO: YES Day!

The students in 6MW celebrated filling their button jar with a "Yes Day" celebration.  Students earn buttons by following the classroom rules and Success Orientations.  Prior to "Yes Day" the students brainstormed rules that activities on this day should follow.  It was decided that the activities must:

  1. Follow the school rules

  2. Be safe

  3. Must be done during class

With these parameters, the student brainstormed and wrote down their "Yes Day" requests on pieces of paper.  The requests were then dispersed into different cups labeled for each period.  Throughout the period, the students were selected to draw an activity for the class to complete.

Some activities included "Blooket" games to review place value in math and syllables in literacy, extra recess, playing "hide and seek", teambuilding games, dancing, eating candy, and more!  The students all want to know if we can do it again.  My answer? YES!
