Who is Mercy Watson and Why Does 7PW Love Him so Much?

If you have ever had a favorite book series, you can relate to the excitement of reading each book, anticipating the new adventure, and relating to every character. The students in 7PW have Mercy Watson fever! They are enjoying all the Mercy Watson books by Kate DiCamillo.

We began with “Mercy to the Rescue”, a story of a family with a pig that they treated as their own child. As the weeks progressed, we learned how Mercy drove a car, stopped a thief, dressed up for Halloween, attended a tea party and finally tried to go see a movie.

The students love Mercy because she is a funny, crazy pig. One student said, “I liked how they explained what Mercy did and the pictures”. Another commented, “I liked how the illustrator drew the characters so well.” We are in the process of writing book recommendations to place in the library to share the fun of the Mercy Watson. What book series made you this happy?
