8YO: Forces in Action: TIS Scientists Explore Motion, Balance, and Bridge Design

The eight-year-old students are exploring the forces that surround them in their everyday lives. They are investigating the effects of balanced and unbalanced forces and examining the pushes and pulls involved in bridge structures. In addition, they are examining how gravity and friction impact the motion of objects. Most recently, students designed and built their own bridges using only two pieces of paper, applying their understanding of force and stability in a hands-on way. They also used models of flying trapezes to further investigate how different forces influence the motion of objects.
