8YO: Inferencing Detectives

8YO: Inferencing Detectives

In 8YO this week it has been all about inferencing. Students have practiced using their inferencing skills in our reading lessons by reading short questions and considering what might be happening that isn't directly stated. Students practiced with several passages, as well as with stories read aloud. However, the inferencing didn't stop in our literacy lessons! Students also practiced this skill in Cultural Studies by reasoning about the impact location has on climate. We used our knowledge of finding locations on a map using a grid system and comparing a place's location to its hottest and coldest temperatures. From here these inferencing detectives found that the closer you are to the equator, the warmer the climate you have!
