ELEM: Art

5 and 6 yo classes are currently working on their Variius Media unit, where they explore combining and working with a variety of different materials. This particular project challenges students to work in the style of artist Jim Dine, who famously made beautifully colored hearts. Students first use oil pastels and a heart stencil to create the outlines of the heart and then create mosaics of multi-colored paper inside of their designs. Students learn how to blend colors, and fine motor skills by carefully placing and gluing tissue paper tiles.
