ELEM: From Rhythms to Rackets: PE and Health Classes in Action!

ELEM: From Rhythms to Rackets: PE and Health Classes in Action!

The 5, 6, and 7-year-old PE classes have finished their rhythms unit and are now working on object manipulation. We have been working with badminton rackets, hitting with paddles, throwing and catching frisbees, dribbling basketballs, and working with many more manipulatives. The 12yo PE class is finishing up an advanced team sport unit where the students learned badminton and have done a large doubles competition including a round robin section and culminating in a double-elimination tournament. The secondary Health & Fitness class is currently working on a unit focused on cardiorespiratory fitness. Students recently completed a heart rate lab using different methods of collecting their heart rates at varying degrees of activity.
