Message from Mr. Tempel 9/13

Greetings Middle School and Secondary Families and Students! 

Here is what's happening with our Middle School and Secondary students:

 

Wednesday, 18 September - Team Building Day

• All students will travel to Grand Park to participate in fun, competitive activities with their Homerooms. Middle School students will compete with other Middle School Homerooms and Secondary students will compete with other Secondary Homerooms. 
• All Homerooms will create a banner, chant, and skit to perform at the Park. 
• Permission forms went out on 9 September and needed to be returned on 13 September.
• Planner Agreements also need to be signed by students and parents and were to be turned in by Wednesday, 11 September. Students received these at the beginning of the year, but in case they weren't here yet, or lost them, there were copies in the MS/SEC office and I emailed a copy to all students. 
  • Students will not be able to participate if these are not turned in! 
• ALL STUDNETS NEED TO BRING A WATER BOTTLE!
• If you child will be taking any transportation home from the park besides the bus back to school, the student must bring in a separate permission form and turn that in by Tuesday. No students will be able to leave the park other than on the bus unless permission is given in advance. 

MAP Testing

All Middle School students and Secondary students up to Writing/Literature II and Geometry will test in the Fall and Spring in Math, Reading, and Language Usage. IE students, Math 12 students, and those requesting tests will test in the Winter.

• Fall: 16 September-25 October 2024 (6-week window after around 4 weeks of instruction)
• Winter: 13 January – 14 February 2025 (5-week window after around 20 weeks of instruction)
• Spring: 14 April – 23 May 2025 (6-week window after around 32 weeks of instruction)
• Summer: 16 June – 18 July 2025

• 8:00-9:30 - Reading - Mr. Wood, Literature 11
• 9:40-11:10 - Math - Mr. Ehrler, Math 12
• 9:40-11:10 - Reading - Mr. Wood, Literature 11
• 12:00-1:30 - Reading - Mr. Larson, Literature I
• 1:45 - 3:20 - Math - Mr. Wood, Math 13

Tuesday, 17 September

• 8:00-9:30 - Math - Ms. Graves, Math 11

Tuesday, 19 September

• 8:00-9:30 - Reading - Mr. Larson, Literature 11
• 12:00-1:30 - Reading - Mr. Sellers, Literature 13

Friday, 20 September

• 9:40-11:10 - Language Usage - Ms. Titus, Writing 12
• 12:00-1:30 - Language Usage - Mr. Larson, Writing I

 

Arrival/Dismissal:

We are still seeing many students arriving after 8:00am in the morning. Please work with us to get your students to school by 7:50 so they have time to arrive to class prior to 8:00am. Thank you! 

Dismissal is at 3:20pm daily (unless you are informed otherwise). 

If your student rides the bus and the bus arrives late, your student will not be counted tardy.

For ASAs:

If you student rides the bus, they will be put on a late bus for ASAs. If you student is not a bus rider, but needs a late bus home from ASAs, please contact Blerta Sadiku at blerta-sadiku@tirana.qsi.org.
