Message from Ms. Carmen 9/4

Dear Preschool Parents,

It was lovely to see so many of you yesterday at the open house and picnic. I am sure you and your family enjoyed the time spent all together. There has been a lot of activity happening around the preschool environment from our 2yos exploring their classroom environment more with lots of water and sensory play as well as preparing to walk to the forest by walking past our 4yo classes to the main playground where we spent time in the sandpit, riding tricycles and playing a little soccer. Our 3yos and 4yos have been enjoying music class where they have been learning about sounds their bodies can make like clapping, stomping, tapping and clicking, connecting it to a musical instrument. During STEM the children experimented with various materials like salt and water to see which melts ice faster and to find the object inside. In PE the students practiced following signals through “Green Light, Red Light” and “Follow the Leader,” as well as used beach balls and hula hoops to build spatial awareness and safe movement.

I would like to invite you all to my coffee chat coming up on Thursday 17 September at 08:15am in the MPR room. I will be introducing a topic on the sensitive periods that children go through during their early years, touching on reasons why children cry when new experiences are introduced, to why getting messy is important for their sensory development and how we can best support them in school and at home. It will be informal, yet informative. 😊

Wishing everyone a wonderful, long, and relaxing weekend! Enjoy the Monday holiday and see you and your children all again on Tuesday.
