Message from Ms. Meredith 11/8

Dear TIS Families,

It’s been another exciting week at TIS, and I’m thrilled to share some of the highlights with you. Here’s a quick look at what’s been happening around our school:

Parent-Teacher Conferences: Thank You for Your Participation!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our recent parent-teacher conferences. It was a pleasure connecting with you about your child’s progress. Your partnership is essential to supporting your child’s academic and personal growth. If you have any further questions or would like to schedule a follow-up meeting, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher.

Restorative Circles: Building Stronger Connections in the Classroom

This week, we introduced Restorative Circles in one of our 8 yo classrooms. These circles encourage students to communicate openly, share their feelings, and resolve conflicts respectfully. Students have been doing a fantastic job of establishing group norms like “Listen without interrupting,” “Respect everyone’s feelings,” and “Speak from the heart.” They’ve already started practicing these skills by sharing personal stories and actively listening to their classmates. We’re excited to continue building these foundational social-emotional skills!

Buddy Café for Reading – A Big Success!

This week, our Buddy Café for reading was a huge hit! Students paired up to read books together and enjoy delicious snacks provided by our generous parent volunteers. Thank you to everyone who contributed snacks — your support made this event extra special for our students. It was wonderful to see the kids so engaged in reading and enjoying time with their classmates.

Mystery Readers – Sign Up Today!

If you’d like to surprise your child’s class by reading a book, please sign up with your child’s teacher. Before you can participate, you’ll need to complete a brief volunteer training. Please check in with EGLA for details on how to get signed up.

10-Year-Old Field Trip – A Day of Exploration

Our 10-year-old students had an amazing field trip this week, where they explored the worlds of pottery, archaeology, and history. Here’s a recap of their exciting day:

  • Pottery House: The day began with a visit to Pottery House, where students learned about the pottery-making process and the tools used by potters. Each student had the chance to create their own unique pot or vase with the guidance of a master potter.
  • Mother Teresa’s Square: After pottery, students enjoyed a snack and break at Mother Teresa’s Square, relaxing by the artificial lake or at the playground.
  • Museum of Archaeology: Students then visited the Museum of Archaeology, where they saw a variety of artifacts from different regions of Albania. They learned about ancient civilizations and gained hands-on experience with history.

It was a fantastic learning experience for our students, giving them the opportunity to engage with history in a very hands-on way. They’ll continue building on these insights in class as they explore how societies have evolved over time.

Dance for Kindness – Join Us!

Our Dance for Kindness events are right around the corner — starting this weekend! This global event promotes kindness through dance, and we’re excited to be part of it. Here are the details for our upcoming events:

  • Saturday, November 10th: Italia Square
  • Tuesday, November 13th: TIS Football Field

We invite all students and families to come out and join us in celebrating kindness through dance! It's a fun, positive way to bring our community together, spread joy, and make the world a little brighter. We hope to see you there!

Always remember:

We are on this educational journey together and we work as a team. Let's all be EMPOWERed together!

  • Stay Connected: Don’t forget to follow us on our social media channels and check our website regularly for updates and important information.

  • Open Communication: If you have any questions or need assistance, please reach out. We’re here to ensure that every student and family feels supported and engaged.

Warm regards,

Mrs. Meredith
