Message from Ms. Meredith 11/14

Dear TIS Families,

What an uplifting week we’ve had! Our annual Dance for Kindness Assembly was a beautiful celebration of unity, joy, and compassion across our campus. A heartfelt thank-you to Mrs. Mudd for once again organizing an inspiring event that truly brought our community together.

Our Middle School Choir amazed everyone with their heartfelt performance, filling the field with harmony and energy. The 5-year-olds kicked off Kindness Month with an absolute bang—sharing an adorable dance and holding up motivational signs that reminded us all of the power of small acts of kindness. And of course, our Elementary students and teachers danced their way into Kindness Month with enthusiasm and pride. Their choreography, smiles, and teamwork set exactly the tone we hoped for as we begin this month’s focus on kindness.

Thank you to all the parents who joined us to support this initiative. Your presence means so much to our students and helps reinforce the values we emphasize at school.

Supporting Kindness Month at Home

As we celebrate Kindness Month at school, here are a few simple ways families can extend these conversations and actions at home:

  • Model kindness in daily routines — saying thank you, apologizing sincerely, or offering help when someone needs it.

  • Create a family kindness challenge — one small act of kindness each day for a week.

  • Read books about kindness — and talk about the characters’ choices and feelings.

  • Practice “kindness spotting” — notice and celebrate kind actions siblings or family members show.

  • Encourage empathy — pause to ask, “How do you think they felt?” during movies, books, or real-life situations.

  • Give children small responsibilities — helping set the table, feeding a pet, or assisting a sibling can build care and awareness.

Even small, consistent moments at home help reinforce what students are learning at school and strengthen our community-wide commitment to kindness.

Looking Ahead

Next week will be a short week for students. Please note:

  • Friday, November 21st is a student holiday.

  • While students enjoy the long weekend, teachers will be participating in Professional Development or serving as coaches for our CEESA Debate Tournament.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us build a caring, engaged, and vibrant school community. We look forward to another great week ahead!

Warmly,

Mrs. Meredith
