Message from Ms. Meredith 10/4

Dear TIS Families,

I hope this message finds you well and filled with the same excitement I feel as we move through another successful month of learning and growth. There’s so much to celebrate at TIS, and I’m delighted to share a few highlights and important events with you.

On Monday, October 7th, we will mark BLUE SHIRT DAY as part of our school-wide initiative to promote kindness and raise awareness around anti-bullying. By wearing blue, we will demonstrate our collective commitment to creating a school environment that values empathy, respect, and inclusivity. These values are foundational not only to academic success but to the development of well-rounded, compassionate individuals. I look forward to seeing our students united in blue, standing together for a cause that speaks to the heart of our community.

During my classroom visits this week, I’ve been deeply impressed by the vibrant and purposeful learning taking place. Our 5-6-year-olds have been energetically exploring the fundamentals of literacy, engaging in activities that support early writing and phonics. It’s wonderful to witness their enthusiasm as they stretch out sounds, segment compound words, and review letter-sound correspondences through engaging games. Their curiosity and determination lay the groundwork for a lifetime of learning.

Meanwhile, our 7-8-year-olds are tackling more complex texts, demonstrating impressive reading comprehension while honing their ability to evaluate writing. I’ve seen them thoughtfully dissect story introductions, distinguishing strong openings from weaker ones—skills that are essential for developing critical thinking and effective communication. Their progress is both inspiring and indicative of their readiness to embrace the next stages of their academic journey.

As we approach Fall Break, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on your child’s achievements thus far. Whether you are a new member of the TIS family or a returning one, it’s important to recognize that growth happens continuously—every day, every lesson, and every interaction contributes to their development. From grasping a new concept to forming lasting friendships, your child is growing in ways that will have a lasting impact.

Let’s also take this opportunity to reaffirm the importance of kindness and integrity. Acts of kindness—whether offering a helping hand, inviting a peer to join in, or standing up for someone in need—are as integral to our school culture as academic rigor. By nurturing these values, we equip our students not only to succeed academically but also to become thoughtful, empathetic individuals who contribute positively to the world around them.

Thank you for your continued support. Together, let’s keep the momentum strong as we journey through this exciting school year!
