MS Girls Basketball Take Silver at CEESA Tournament

The MS Girls basketball team proudly represented TIS at the CEESA tournament in Skopje, North Macedonia, opening the weekend with two confident pool wins over Bucharest and Belgrade to finish first in their group. The semifinal against NOVA became the defining moment of the tournament. After TIS built a strong lead, NOVA fought back to tie the game in the final minute. With TIS in foul trouble, NOVA went to the free‑throw line with a chance to take the lead—but missed both shots. With 9.6 seconds left, TIS called a timeout for one final chance. When play resumed, Alex exploded up the court and fired a pass to Hera, who launched a soaring, desperate shot as the buzzer blared. The ball dropped straight through—nothing but net—and the gym erupted as TIS claimed a stunning, last‑second victory to reach the final.

In the championship match, the girls faced a strong TISA team from Baku. Despite falling behind early, they fought back with impressive resilience, narrowing the gap to four points in the second half. TISA ultimately held on for the win, and the TIS girls finished as proud silver medalists, bringing home the 2nd place trophy. The weekend also offered memorable cultural experiences—from exploring Skopje’s Old Bazaar to sharing hearty Macedonian meals and forming new friendships with players from other schools—making the trip as rewarding off the court as it was on it.
