MS/SEC: Literacy Support + 13YO CS
Middle School IE
For the past few weeks, Middle School IE students have been working on identifying past, present, and future time frames from spoken discourse. They have been reading nonfiction accurately and fluently, using self-monitoring strategies to comprehend independently. The other group has been working on identifying short vowel phonemes and consonant phonemes and graphemes, as well as practicing active listening and effective discussion skills in classroom conversations. Way to go!
MS and HS Literacy Support
Middle School (MS) literacy support students receive assistance mainly with their literacy curriculum. However, they also get help in understanding Mathematics and Science vocabulary. They engage in various language arts exercises like writing a proper thesis statement, as well as practicing different grammar skills. Currently, they are working on reading and answering questions from a book they are reading.
High School (HS) Literacy Support students focus on their literacy curriculum while also expanding their vocabulary in Mathematics, Science, and Cultural Studies. They also dedicate time to enhancing their reading comprehension abilities.
Cultural Studies 13
Cultural Studies students have been diligently working on supporting questions stemming from the compelling question and distinguishing between secondary and primary sources. They have also been working on understanding the cultures of South and Southwest Asia, starting with the Ottoman Empire and Safavid Empire. Currently, they are working on the Sikh Empire to close the unit with the Mughal Empire. Way to go!
