SEC: Exploring Symbolism and Satire in Literature II

Literature II students finished a unit of short stories to examine the ways authors create tension, advance themes and incorporate elements, such as fairytale, violence and fantasy to illustrate symbolic ideas. Students created one-page projects to show their understanding of Charles Dickens' satire "Captain Murderer," a story that skewered the upper-class society of his day and their willingness to overlook those who abused power and privileges.
