IB Environmental Systems and Societies Students Get Hands-On with Population Estimation

This week, our IB ESS class took science outdoors with a practical activity on population sampling. Students investigated the population of grubs in the TIS compost pile using the Lincoln Index method. After carefully counting, marking, and releasing the grubs, they returned for a second count and applied their data to estimate the total population. It was a fun and insightful way to connect ecological theory with real-world application!
