SEC: IB French B Class

In IB French B class, we’ve taken a vibrant journey through one of the most influential art movements in history—Impressionism. This movement, which originated in France during the late 19th century, marked a radical departure from traditional techniques and gave birth to a new way of seeing and depicting the world. Impressionism is an art movement that began in the 1870s, characterized by a focus on light, color, and everyday scenes. Instead of striving for precise detail, Impressionist artists aimed to capture the fleeting effects of light and atmosphere in their works. They often painted outdoors ("en plein air") to capture natural light and experimented with loose brushwork and vibrant colors.

The name "Impressionism" comes from a painting by Claude Monet, Impression, Sunrise (Impression, Soleil Levant), which was exhibited in 1874.
