SEC: Unplugged Reflections: A Literary Walk Through American Ideals

In American Literature, students will be studying Romanticism and Transcendentalism. Transcendentalism is a philosophical, spiritual, and literary movement that developed in the late 1820s and 1830s in the New England region of the United States. A core belief of the movement is the inherent goodness of people and nature. While society and its institutions may corrupt the purity of the individual, people are believed to be at their best when they are truly self-reliant and independent. In keeping with the spirit of Transcendentalism, this unit will be studied without the use of digital devices, encouraging students to explore the concepts independently. Please enjoy the photographs from the class’s Romantic and Transcendental Walk.
